The Bachelor; What has this country come to?

As we speak, I (Like many other women) am sitting down in front of my television to watch the Bachelor. I have been watching this show for quite some time. As a young girl I remember my mom and I sitting down to watch this "Girly" show together. It was a fun and feminine show to watch together, and I enjoyed every second. The romance, the courting... it was all like something out of a fairytale to young me.
Now I have a lot to say about this topic so bear with me as I organize my thoughts. Or talk all scattered like. Whichever.

I am older and more experienced now watching this show than I have ever been, obviously, so there are lots of things that have been brought to my attention.

Just to start, I will give a brief synopsis of the show this season for those of you who are unfamiliar with the premise of this "competition."

One Juan Pablo, a Venezuelan-single-dad-bachelor, is on the look-out for love. This show gives him a very public chance at romance. The only catch; he has to decide between and court 20+ women at a time, slowly eliminating them until there are only two left. And then? He proposes to one. After only knowing them and courting them for the span of the show. After dating all of these women at once. What?

How is this a real thing, honestly? Well let me answer that. Because women are suckers. Because we have such low self esteem that for some reason we don't think we deserve more than a T.V. show "hunk" making googly eyes at us while also simultaneously ogling and falling for several other women. We eat that stuff up! We think it's ROMANTIC and DRAMATIC and completely overlook how weird and screwed up it is that this guy is making out with one woman, then another, then another... And they all know and are OKAY with it? I mean I obviously watch the show. Even I got sucked into the whole thing.

The show is romantic. I won't deny that. However the general female population seems to find Juan Pablo a heck of a lot more attractive than I do. And I see right through his "empathy" towards the other women. I mean for goodness sakes, he is a MAN. He is enjoying every second of these beautiful woman throwing themselves at him, fighting over him. Not to say all men are like that (My husband isn't) but Juan Pablo obviously is. In the previous episode he very obviously slept with one of the women, and then later stated to her that it was "wrong" and he wouldn't want his daughter to see that. He placed a lot of the blame on her (And she is already a crazypants lady) instead of accepting the blame as his own. The poor girl isn't the one with the daughter. You are, sir. So act as such, on a tv show that YOU signed up to be on.

Another problem I have with this guy is a kind of obvious one. Juan Pablo came out as saying that he didn't think a gay bachelor would ever be a good idea because it doesn't set a good example to kids.

I wonder if this guy listens to himself when he talks. Okay... So a gay bachelor wouldn't be a good example to kids? Why, because of the sexual immorality? Pot, meet kettle. Does he think it would be a bad example because, GOD FORBID, the kids will see two men together and suddenly turn gay?
Like I said, GOD FORBID someone is gay and GOD FORBID A child sees two people who care about each other. I'm going to stop talking about this part before I get more angry than I already am... but I have so many qualms with this guy.

This post, in conclusion, was mostly a rant. Haha. I'm not going to stop watching the show. I'm not really one of those people who stops watching a showing or buying a product because I don't agree with whoever is running it/ whatever. But basically I just think women need to have better standards for themselves... And Juan Pablo reminds me of a really stupid (And I mean lowest IQ ever) guy I once dated.
Oh, And I'm glad that even though my mommy and I watched this show together when I was growing up, she always taught me to have standards for myself, and not to be mean to other women or other people just because I was jealous or whatever. Unless they're bitches. Lololol. ;)

Have respect for yourself ladies!
Love <3
Kara
